We are thrilled to be able to announce details on how our WAG Torch Relay will work and how you or your organization can be involved in this exciting opportunity.
The Torch is a lightweight torch featuring a battery-operated “flame” which is visible in a variety of lighting conditions. It operates using eight ‘AA’ size batteries which are contained in a tube stored inside the body of the Torch. The Torch will be auctioned off to raise funds for our charity partner (The Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society) during the live auction at Fur-Eh! 2024.
The concept of the WAG Torch Relay is to have the Torch shown in a wide range of locations from across the globe before it makes its way back to Edmonton for the final leg of its journey in July of 2024 at the opening of the World Anthro Games.
We encourage individuals or organizations (i.e.: other furry conventions or events) to request the Torch and to shoot video of you or a member of your local Furry community running with the torch in an iconic or otherwise picturesque locale that represents your part of the world.
Video should be shot in widescreen format, in 1080p or higher resolution and be a minimum of 30 seconds long and a maximum of 2 minutes long. Multiple submissions by each individual or organization are welcome.
Costs associated with sending the Torch from location to location will be paid by Fur-Eh! and will require cooperation from those who participate in the Torch Relay program to ensure proper packaging and drop off/pick up at designated shipping depots. The maximum time that any individual or organization is in possession of the Torch should be no more than 10 business days.
To request the Torch, please send us an email at general@fureh.ca with your contact information and details on your proposed plan for the Torch. We will reply as soon as we are able with confirmation of whether your proposal has been accepted.
